Setting Personal Goals
Setting personal goals is the first step in the right direction after determining your “big why’... and if you haven’t taken the time to really evaluate what it is you want out of life, now might be the time to do it.
You likely have a pretty good idea of your dream life… but have you ever taken the time to really evaluate your goals and visualize what life could be like once you achieve them?
This is a great exercise and will definitely enrich your experience on your journey of setting and achieving goals! Grab a piece of paper and pen and really get specific!!
For example:- Find business opportunity I enjoy
- Work a fewer hours per day doing what I LOVE
- Earn “x” per month.
- Spend the days with my children, family and loved ones.
- Pay off mortgage.
- Take 4 vacations per year
- Buy my wife/husband the car of his/her dreams
- Make my family very proud of me!
- Help others get ahead in life.
- Plan for my children’s future
- Treat my parents
- Buy a reliable, newer vehicle
- Eliminate stress from my life!
If areas of the above example align with your primary goal… (Which most people do have some or all of these ideals while setting personal goals)...… the next step is to determine how you are going to achieve this lifestyle…. And obviously, since you are examining ways to work from home … an online business opportunity can be a wonderful vehicle to make this a reality.
An important second step in setting and achieving goals is to break the goal down into manageable, attainable smaller steps in order to be REALISTIC!
In other words, don’t ‘tax’ yourself by biting off too much at a time!
Naturally if working online is new to you, you are going to have to learn the skill sets in order to succeed. A good place to start is to actually decide on a business, either an existing business opportunity, or if you choose work on a hobby or passion, the same will apply as far as the necessity to learn how to market successfully!
Now, bear in mind, nobody said you had to me an instant millionaire! (Did they?)… What you need to focus on is the fact that you have taken the first step!
A finding a business opportunity is in my humble opinion one of the best way to achieve this better lifestyle if you do not already have another passion I mind! Generally, established business opportunities offer other forms of support that you don’t always have if going it alone. (But don’t let this slow you down… if you want to start by simply building a website or blog marketing a ‘personal passion’… I still say “Go for it!”
Regardless of what you choose, always remember you have the exact same chances of success with the right mindset and dedication (just the same as anybody else). The great advantage of working online is that you can set your own hours, work around your schedule, and as far as family vacations, etc… most online businesses are completely portable businesses! (Seriously, I just take my laptop with me…& work around the pool ... sometimes with Margarita in hand… ahhem.)
Sorry… I digress… back to setting and achieving goals:
I feel another important step in setting and achieving goals is to write them down and evaluate them.
Once outlines ensure you post them so you can see them every day… a few times per day. (i.e. stick them to the bathroom mirror!!)
Secondly, make them manageable. In other words, don’t over burden yourself. Take it easy. Chart your goals in such a way that you can actually plan the steps to achieve them. If you make these steps too steep or unrealistic, the result will be that you become discouraged.
Remember, you are a Babe in the woods when learning anything new, and in order to learn the skills and techniques to successfully run your business, you are going to have to invest the time that is necessary in order to learn properly.
Besides … what’s the rush? (Or is that a silly question?)Naturally, I realize you would like to achieve all of your goals today, if not yesterday, but realistically, that doesn’t happen.
My point is that even if you have at least taken the first step by researching a good business opportunity…or decided on something else ….you will still be a lot further ahead than you were… last month!
Now that you have determined the business of choice… you just have to learn how build it. A find wine takes time to age, but with diligence and determination… you WILL get there with the right attitude.
Nobody said you have to me an Instant Success did they? I doubt you have ever started a new job and become the expert overnight! Right?? But… in a few weeks, you have likely gotten a good grasp on the new job… and before you know it, you are employee of the month!
Same here… a good business opportunity is deserving of the right kind of attention. Being patient with yourself and investing your time wisely into learning the ropes good and proper is the only way to go.
It’s unfortunate that these days, many view online businesses or online business opportunities as either a vehicle to ‘get rich quick’… or when they fail they brand any online endeavour as a “scam.”
It takes a sensible human to realize that all real businesses (online or offline) takes real work! Anything can be accomplished with patience, determination, focus and work ethic … and naturally keeping these tips for setting personal goals in mind.
